- TrainNot possibleNo railway reaches Ladakh. The nearest stations are in Jammu & Kashmir, then a long 1–2 day drive.
- CarDirect · seasonalBy road via the Manali–Leh or Srinagar–Leh highways. Passes are usually open only from about May/June to October.
- BusDirect · seasonalSeasonal buses run from Manali and Srinagar when the highways are open (roughly May/June to October).
- CruiseNot possibleLadakh is in the high Himalaya — no cruise option.
Before you go
- Plan at least 24–48 hours of rest in Leh before going higher; altitude sickness can affect anyone.
- Some areas (such as Nubra, Pangong and Tso Moriri) have required permits or fees. Check the current rules on the official Ladakh portal.
- Mobile coverage is limited outside Leh and postpaid connections tend to work more widely than prepaid.
